Myth is a way of explaining why the world is the way it is.
Through studying the myths of other times and places, we can understand our own mythology more fully. Archetypes are primal figures from the human psyche. We each use mythic themes and archetypal images to develop our own personal mythological narrative.
Stories from different cultures can illuminate our own. Through studying myths from around the world within their social and historical context, we can identify similarities and contrasts between them.
The myths of the Classical World form an important part of our cultural heritage, but they in turn were informed by older stories. By studying the myths of Ancient Sumeria and the Middle East, we can appreciate the ways in which myth affects modern thought.
